Proudly manufactured in Britain, the Yates wine foil cutter is designed to be the very best at what it does.

Originally created as a fun gift for customers of our engineering business - in which we manufacture parts for a range of sectors, including Oil & Gas, Motorsport, and Aerospace - our foil cutter received such high praise that we decided to make it available to the wider public.

As it was originally designed to be a fun way to show off our design and manufacturing capabilities, the brief was simple: To make the absolute best foil cutter in the world.

There are a few key features that set the Yates wine foil cutter apart, notably:

  • A hygienic cut: It cuts the foil on the neck of the bottle rather than just under the lip, akin to how a sommelier would in a restaurant. This is for good reason. When the cut is around the lip, the wine will still run over the foil when poured into the glass. This is unhygienic. Cutting the foil further down the neck means that the wine only touches glass that was previously covered by foil and is therefore clean and hygienic. If you wish though, you can still cut around the top lip using the YATES foil cutter

  • Replaceable cutting blades: The circular blades can be replaced at relatively low cost. Even the best blades wear, and we wanted to make a product that lasts for many years. These are available to buy on our website

  • Adapts to all common bottle sizes: The unique opening mechanism allows the foil cutter to easily adapt to all common bottle sizes. 

Not only does our unique design enhance the wine drinking experience, but our quality also ensures the very best customer experience.

For our cutting blades, we use a type of Stainless Steel that is traditionally only used in the high end knife making industry. We then prototyped various blade angles and edge radiuses in order to get the perfect blend between a clean cutting performance and edge longevity.

All the other metal screws and springs are made from Marine Grade Stainless Steel 316 to international DIN and ISO standards. Some would say that this is overkill, but in our industry, there can be no compromise, and this product was after all designed to represent our company's engineering philosophy to some of the most demanding customers in British engineering.

The outcome is that each foil cutter has a lovely smooth and satisfying spring loaded feel, with virtually no play in the mechanism.

Easy to use, foil removed cleanly. Nice design, fast operation, great for the hospitality industry where you might have to romove the foil from a lot of wone bottles. There is potential in the design to use premium materials; titanium , stainless steel, etc, and I think you would sell quite nicely.

Very pleased

I'm very pleased with this purchase. It's excellen quality, easy to use, and cuts very very well.
I havent had it long enough to test blade life, but they seem to be holding up really well so far.
Cutting further down the neck of the bottle is also something i hadnt appreciated as being a big benefit, but now it seems obvious.
